Year 12 Assembly, With Guest Speaker Al Jones of EZE Driving School

Summary of Presentation

  • Introduction & Purpose
Al Jones (EZE School of Motoring) addressed the students to introduce the opportunity of learning to drive through the partnership with TGS. He outlined how the driving school works, what support is offered, and how students can get involved.

  • Demonstration: Visual Impairment Goggle Challenge
As part of the talk, there was an interactive demonstration using visual impairment goggles. One brave volunteer wore the goggles that simulate visual impairment (blurred vision, restricted sight) and attempted simple tasks (e.g. walking around some other volunteers) to get a sense of how difficult even everyday tasks become under limited vision. The aim was to raise awareness of how dangerous driving can be when vision is impaired, and to stress the importance of safe, attentive driving.

  • TGS Driving School & Free Provision
Al Jones reminded students of the free TGS Driving School scheme, available to those at the Sixth Form. He explained that through the EZE School of Motoring, students can sign up to receive driving tuition under this scheme.

  • He emphasised that students interested should fill in the EZE School of Motoring TGS Driving School form to register their interest and be considered for access to these free lessons.

  • Key Messages & Encouragement

    • Driving is a privilege and carries serious responsibility, especially with safety risks (as illustrated by the goggle demo).

    • It’s an opportunity for independence, but only if students commit to safe habits, good vision, and proper instruction.

    • Signing up early via the TGS–EZE form is essential to secure a place in the scheme.

    • EZE will support learners with qualified instructors and structured lessons under the ADI (Approved Driving Instructor system.
