Joining in September 2025
Applications to join the school are made to Suffolk County Council. They have full information, contact details and an online application service at www.suffolk.gov.uk/admissionstoschools.
For the current admissions round (September 2025 intake), we are adhering to the Thomas Gainsborough School policy.
Tours of the school and a meeting with a member of the senior leadership team can be arranged at any time by contacting the school.
At the start of March parents of students currently in Year 6 students receive notification advising them whether a place has been offered at Thomas Gainsborough School. We send the Year 7 Family Guide to all students offered a place, a copy can be downloaded from the resources section.
Joining the Sixth Form
We are still accepting late applications. Please return all application forms to student services, main school reception or the sixth form office.
We offer individual programmes of study, the choice of which will be largely based on your GCSE results.
- Advanced Programme (Level 3) - a two year programme predominantly based on A level courses. A number of BTEC qualifications and other courses are also available. This is for students who achieve at least 5 GCSE passes at grade C or above including English and Maths, with grade B in the subjects they wish to study at Level 3.
- Vocational Programme - a two year programme predominantly based on BTEC/CTEC courses. This is for students who achieve at least 5 GCSE passes at C or above or BTEC passes.
