Dear Families,

This year's Academic Review Day will be on Monday 7th October 2024. During the day all students, Years 7 to 13, will have a 15-minute meeting with their tutor and we would like you to attend this with them.  The aim of this meeting is for you to have the opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and to support them in setting targets to improve their attainment over the coming months. You will also be able to raise any concerns that you may have about your child’s progress at the school. The Heads of House and the Senior Leadership Team will also be available to answer any questions you may have.

The appointments will take place in person, for Years 7 to 11, in the main building.  Entrance to the school will be via the main reception or the student entrance and parking will be in car park B. Sixth Form appointments take place in G Block and parking is available there. All appointments will take place in a designated classroom, that will be advised to you on the day as you sign in.

Students should be in full school uniform and have their planners and a pen with them. We are also requesting that students bring two pieces of work, one of which is to be an extended writing piece, to their meeting to highlight completed work they are proud of.  Students are only required to be in school for their meeting that day but if you have childcare concerns, we are happy for the students to be in school, where they will be supervised whilst completing the work that has been set by their subject teachers. Please let your child(ren)’s tutor know if you would like to take advantage of this facility.  Please note, if no appointment is made or the session is not attended without prior communication to us, then this will be marked as unauthorised absence.

To help us organise the day and provide you with some flexibility over your appointment we have an online booking system.  Appointments can be made from Wednesday 25th September. The system will open up for booking appointments from 8am on Wednesday and close for bookings at 12 noon on Thursday 3rd October, 2024.

To book your appointment visit https://tgschool.parentseveningsystem.co.uk Login with the following information: Student’s preferred first name, preferred surname and date of birth.

If you do not have access to the internet or you encounter a problem, please contact Mrs Vicki Bloyce (01787 375232 or vbloyce@tgschool.net) who will be happy to add appointments on your behalf and answer any questions.

During the Academic Review Day, we will also have a selection of second hand uniform available free of charge for families as well as a collection of free second hand books available in the main hall. There will be a scholastic book sale for all year groups from 9am, providing the opportunity to purchase or order books, including revision guides.

Year 11 student information for appointment bookings

On Monday 7th October 2024, all year 11 students are scheduled to complete an English Literature Paper 2 mock exam. Therefore, Year 11 students should arrive at the Sports Hall for 9AM.  Students who have special exam arrangements for identified learning needs will receive separate instructions from Mrs Dormandy and will meet at the Snack Shack near G Block. The English Literature Paper 2 is 2 hours and 15 minutes in length.  Where a student receives already known concessions, this may be longer.  Please do not book year 11 Academic Review Day appointments during the exam timings for your child.  We will have rooms available for students to wait in after their exam, or they can leave the site via the Leisure Centre after the exam finishes.

Careers & SEND Support

Our careers advisor, Mrs K Osborne will be available for appointments for year 10 from 8.30am - 11.30am and for Year 11 from 11.45am-3.45pm. In addition, the SEND team will also be available on the second floor within the LSSC (Learning Support Centre) if you have any specific queries related to SEND or medical needs.

If you have any further queries regarding the Academic Review Day, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s tutor or myself.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs N Gilligan
