As a popular and successful school we are always excited to strengthen our team. Following a period of growth and improved results, our Head of Science is changing role and we are seeking to appoint a new Head of Science to continue the success of the team.
Therefore, we are looking to employ a well qualified leader with a record of developing science teams who in turn deliver high quality lessons with excellent student outcomes.
Science is taught across all 3 key stages, including 3 A Level courses, and a post 16 applied science course. Students in Key Stage 3, who select a STEM pathway, receive an additional science lesson. Extra-curricular opportunities are rich with students taking part in many career related opportunities and competitions.
The team is made up of 15 supportive and highly committed subject specialists. Teachers are assisted by two valued, full-time, experienced technicians.
In September 2015 the school moved into an award-winning new building, where Science is taught in specialist rooms across two floors, with an additional laboratory in the Sixth Form building.
Thomas Gainsborough School is a consistently high performing, well resourced, and truly comprehensive school, with a firm belief in excellence for each and every student, placing students at the heart of their curriculum. You can find out more about the school at www.tgschool.net
The school continues to invest in high quality professional development and provides a range of employee benefits. This is an excellent opportunity for any teacher to develop their practice and continue their career progression. Supporting staff wellbeing is a priority at all levels.
The school is located just south of Sudbury in Suffolk and is within easy reach of Colchester, Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds.
Many of our staff work flexibly in different ways including part-time working. For this role we are open to discussing the possibility of reduced hours of flexible start and end times. Please talk to us at the interview stage about the flexibility you would like and we will explore what’s possible for this role.
If you would like to learn more about the school in preparation for making an application, or would like to discuss this exciting opportunity, then please contact Mr Chris Ryall, cryall@tgschool.net or call the school to speak to Mrs Kerry Fuller, the Headteacher’s PA, on 01787 375232. We would also be happy to arrange a visit to the school.
