Dear Families,

It has been a fantastic start to the new school year here at Thomas Gainsborough School. Our students have returned from the summer looking smart, full of energy, and ready for the exciting year ahead. It has been a real pleasure to meet so many of them this week, and to see the positivity and determination with which they have begun their learning.

As I begin my new role as Headteacher, I wanted to thank you for the support you give to your children and to our school. The warm welcome I have already received from the community has been greatly appreciated, and I am very much looking forward to working in partnership with you over the months and years ahead. At Thomas Gainsborough School, our vision is “Excellence: for each, for all”. This is more than just a phrase—it reflects our commitment to providing every student with the opportunities, support and challenge they need to thrive.

We are guided by our three pillars of Culture, Character and Currency, and by the values we live each day: respect, resilience, honesty, happiness, confidence and positivity. Already this week, I have seen these values in action through the way our students have conducted themselves, supported one another, and embraced the new school year. Earlier this week, I wrote to all families with a letter that introduces myself in a little more detail and also provides an outline of some of the key events taking place over the coming year. For ease, I have linked a copy of that letter here for your reference.
