Good morning,
We are looking forward to welcoming Year 6 students to Thomas Gainsborough School for transition week on Monday 14th July -Friday 18th July. The students will be with us all week unless primary schools have requested them to return for leavers' events.
A reminder all students should be in their TGS PE tops and this can be worn with their normal school shorts/skirts/trousers or suitable dark grey, dark blue or black bottoms. School shoes or trainers should also be worn. We do not allow students to wear any jewellery apart from a watch and small simple stud earrings. Students will need a pencil case with simple equipment such as a pens, pencils, ruler and if they wish, colouring pencils.
It is forecasted to be warm weather and therefore please ensure students are coming to school with sunhats if required and a refillable water bottle. Students will be involved in PE sessions on Wednesday - they will not be changing in school and should come to school in their TGS PE tops and ready for their PE lesson. Please note, jewellery (stud earrings and watches) do have to be removed for PE.
On Monday morning, students will need to arrive at the school site and be ready and lined up for 8.45am. Staff on duty will direct students to where they need to meet, out on the field by the main school building. Staff will also be on buses to supervise. Students should arrive through the gates either by the library & sports centre or via the gates on Wells Hall Road (near our sixth form block). Students arriving after 8.45am will need to access the site via the main school visitor's entrance. Please do not use the entrance/car park by Bright Horizon Nursery.
Students will be leaving school at the end of the day at 3.05pm as we allow our year 6 students to leave before the rest of the school at 3.15pm. Please be mindful if you are collecting by car, to use the main car park by the library & leisure centre.
If students wish to purchase a school lunch, please bring cash as our online payment system (school payment gateway) will not be open for our transition students. We will provide students with Free School Meals with a free lunch and we have been given names of those students who qualify by their primary school. Students are also welcome to bring their own packed lunch.
