Dear Families,

Thank you for your support during this academic year. Your support and challenge, when needed, ensures we do not get complacent and continue to try and provide excellence for all our students. On behalf of all the staff at TGS we wish you all a very happy summer holiday and we look forward to welcoming students back on Wednesday September 4th for Year 7, 11 and 12 and the remaining year groups on Thursday September 5th.

Uniform

On Wednesday August 21st we will have the opportunity for parents to come into school to help themselves to our second-hand uniform, coats, bags and PE kit. This will be available in the main school hall from 10 am until 2pm.

Attendance

You may be aware that there is new attendance guidance for schools which becomes statutory on 19th August. We value excellent attendance and are keen to work in partnership with you next year. We want to make sure students at Thomas Gainsborough School make an excellent start to the new year and attend every day.

There are changes to fixed penalty notices, attendance contracts and register coding.

At the start of next year, we will share with you our trust attendance policy, along with a helpful guide for our school. In the meantime, here is a link to the DFE's guide for parents.

Rehabilitation

As we approach the summer holidays, it's important to remember that this can be a particularly challenging time for those dealing with addiction and mental health issues. Many people feel more vulnerable during this period and may be in need of the resources and support.

Rehab 4 Addiction has reached out to us to remind families of the wealth of resources and information about addiction and mental health, which could be invaluable to those in need in the Sudbury area. They provide a helpline that offers immediate assistance to those struggling with addiction in Sudbury, a service that could be life-saving for some. Please do use the link or pass on to anyone you know who may be in need of this service. Subject Groupings for Key Stage 3

Each year following end of year reports and assessments we review the most appropriate groups for students in Years 7 to 9. Before students start in September we will write to you explaining our approach to student groups.
