TGS Sixth Form Student Keavy Powers Competes At Blackpool Winter Gardens

Our very own Keavy Power of Year 12 recently took part in the National Dance Competition held at Blackpool Winter Gardens.
We are thrilled to have her views on the day and her career in dance competitions to share with you...
On the 4th of October, I had the the opportunity to compete in the Blackpool Winter Gardens for the 10th consecutive year.
Since the age of 4, I have been lucky enough to pursue lots of different styles of dance, including my favourites: latin, street and rock n roll. In Blackpool I competed in 3 street events, 2 disco freestyle events, 1 slow event and 1 jazz event.
These types of competitions push not just your physical capabilities but mental strength as well. However, when I dance, I see it as an outlet and an escape were all I can feel is this rush of adrenaline which is why I love it so much. When you find so much enjoyment in a sport, you are determined to be the best you possibly can be. This attitude has got me to where I am today, and made it possible for me to win over 150 trophies.
If I had any advice for somebody who has just started a sport or has been perusing it for years, it would be to never give up, keep persevering because when you achieve something you first thought was impossible, your limits become endless!
