Overall Responsibility:

  • To undertake all grounds related activities in order to meet the needs of the school’s PE department and Sports Centre and to ensure that the whole site is maintained to an excellent standard and to provide a good impression to all visitors to the school, parents, students and staff.

Therefore, we are looking for someone who:

• Has excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for supporting young people

• Is resilient, hard working and self motivated

• Has a full, clean driving licence with part D1

Job Description

Main Duties:  

Maintaining and developing the playing fields

  • Inspection and maintenance of all goal posts and pitches

  • Marking out all sports pitches

  • Planning the maintenance and renovation of the playing fields and pitches

  • Undertaking all grass cutting

  • Maintain the register of all grounds equipment

  • Schedule testing and maintenance of all equipment in accordance with current guidelines

  • Health and safety requirements including auditing equipment and outdoor spaces, risk assessments and method statements for work to be undertaken

  • Attend to maintenance of the all weather pitch.

Maintaining and developing the whole site

  • Maintaining the appearance of the front of school

  • Maintaining the appearance of the grassed and planted areas

  • Control of weeds around the site by application of fertilisers and fungicides

  • Making sure all hedges are maintained to a high standard and tidy

  • Sweeping the footpaths on the site to keep free of vegetation debris

Additional Responsibilities:

  • To undertake a range of duties to assist the site team for example when bad weather prevents grounds man duties being undertaken or when workload permits

  • Undertake any duties reasonably requested by the Headteacher
