Examination Board: Edexcel
Assessment: 100% examination
Key Stage 4 begins in Year 10 and is run over 2 years. It is all about preparation for GCSE exams and life beyond as we continue to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding gained at KS3. GCSE Maths will always be an extremely important qualification to have, whether pupils study Mathematics at A level or leave school for college, apprenticeship or employment.
The Pearson Edexcel GCSE Maths course prepares the students to help achieve the best GCSE grade possible. The qualification consists of three equally-weighted written examination papers at either Foundation tier or Higher tier. Paper 1 is a non-calculator assessment and a calculator is allowed for Paper 2 and Paper 3.
The assessments will cover:
- Number
- Algebra
- Ratio, proportion and rates of change
- Geometry and measures
- Probability
- Statistics
