Dear Families,
Strike Action
The school has received notification from the NEU trade union that its members propose to take strike action on Thursday 27th April and Tuesday 2nd May. This action relates to a national dispute.
A sizeable number of the staff are members of this union and therefore the school will be affected by the strike action. Consequently, I have undertaken a risk assessment for the school to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our students on the strike day and have decided that it is necessary for the school to partially close due to the number of staff who are likely to be involved in the strike.
Years 13, 12 and 11 will attend their normal lessons and planned activities on both days.
For Years 10, 9, 8 and 7 we will be providing resources to support home learning and revision, as well as the usual information on Go4Schools and in Google Classroom.
There will be activities for students to access via our home learning page: https://tgschool.net/home-learning. These will help students review learning from earlier in the year, explore forthcoming topics and develop their maths and reading.
Students who are in receipt of free school meals will receive a food voucher.
If there are any further developments at a national level, and if strike action is averted then this will be communicated to you.
If you have any further questions or need additional support for your child on the strike day, please do not hesitate to contact me at hyapp@tgschool.net. Thank you for your continued support and engagement.
Yours Sincerely,
Mrs Helen Yapp
Headteacher
