Included in this month's e-safety newsletter is helpful advice about a particular concern of my own; that is the enormous amount of time our young people spend on their phones and other devices. As users of phones we are given a weekly report of screen time and a breakdown of the areas where this time is spent. It is not unusual to hear a student has spent over six hours a day on their phone alone, not including any gaming time on another device. These extended hours are spent on social media apps alone. There is overwhelming evidence that this is not supportive of good mental health and wellbeing. Perhaps this is a good time to have a discussion and look at the tips to support reducing the time spent online.
