The week 10th-16th May is Mental Health Awareness Week in the UK. The chosen theme for this year is nature. Follow this link to find out why...
Here in the sixth form we embraced the theme with open arms. Making the most of the brief spells of sunshine, tutors took their tutor groups out for a walk around the grounds during registration time. Not only did this allow the students and staff to absorb a bit of feel-good Vitamin D from the sun, it allowed students to chat with each other and appreciate the calming effect that the outdoors has on our mental state.
Good mental health is so very important, we would encourage anyone who feels as though they may need help, to speak out to a member of staff, a friend, a parent or relative, or, if you would rather remain anonymous, call one of the many helplines available in the UK. You can find a list of numbers on the Mind charity website.
