Dear families,

The final half term has started really positively and it is great to see our year 11 and 13 students continuing to be focussed and impeccable with their approach to exams.

Year 11 Final Arrangements

We have informed Year 11 students that we will have shirt signing on Thursday 13 June. Students are able to wear their shirts and do not have to bring a spare one in unless they have the Music Technology exam. We are unable to do this on Friday as we have two big exams: Geography and Science.

The students have been absolutely fabulous this week and we are very proud of their commitment and resilience.

From Monday 17 to Wednesday 19 June, students who still have exams in Music, Statistics, Design and Technology and Food Preparation are still encouraged to attend lessons, and may also revise in school. If students come in for these sessions, and exams they should either come in before 0845 by the usual routes, or via reception. They sign in and out at student services, where there will also be information about rooms and sessions available.

Year 10 End of Year Exams

A reminder that information about the Year 10 Exams, and practical activities is available at https://tgschool.net/internal-exams - we wish all these students well, and he expect that any questions about arrangements and preparation can be answered by subject teachers or form tutor

On Monday we will meet Y10 students again to remind them of the expectations about equipment and timings to help them benefit from this valuable opportunity to practice exam processes, and demonstrate all the progress they have made this year.

Sports Awards Evening 2024

Online Safety Newsletter - June 2024

Now that we have had a brief glimpse of some Summer weather, it may be a good time to talk to our young people about the benefits of being out in the fresh air rather than indoors and online. A great starting point would be to share online half term daily usage statistics from the home screen. Reflecting on the negative impact extended online time has on our mental health, in direct contrast to the positive benefits on wellbeing of even the most gentle exercise could support some good habits prior to the Summer holiday. The newsletter highlights the need for parents to be aware of the age limits of apps and games. We may trust that our child is responsible enough to leave the game/app language and topics online but who are they communicating with? Many of those they come into contact with will be well over the stated age limit advised.

Regular, open conversations regarding online safety will ensure our young people enjoy the benefits but not the pitfalls of online entertainment.

Thank you for taking time to read the latest newsletter available at https://tgschool.net/news/tgs-online-safety-newsletter-june-2024
