5th July 2024

Dear families,

Another busy week at TGS has seen an amazing sixth form taster day where over 130 students attended on the day, many were current TGS students but it was great to see so many external applicants arrive and experience our school sixth form.We look forward to students now receiving their results in anticipation of their places in September at the sixth form

Updated behaviour policy

Last week, we shared the updated behaviour policy for 2024-25 that will be implemented from Monday, 8th July.  Implementing from Monday will support students to know the few minor but key changes well prior to September and also allow our new year 7s to learn this when they arrive as part of transition week on the 15th July.  Learning how to conduct themselves as young adults and citizens of the world is key in our students' development.  To support this, a video presentation on the key changes (and what has not changed) was shared and seen by all students this week.  A link for this has been placed onto the website into the resource area on the policies page (link below).  We welcome you having the opportunity to also see this.  Please do follow the link and download the presentation to view the video or you can review the PDF slides.

TGS Online Safety Newsletter

I am sure you too will be concerned at the popularity of CapCut. Being able to make quality videos and embed music so easily on a phone is clearly creative and fun. However this video editing app does not have any content or control settings and just like TikTok, a user can quickly be accessing inappropriate or dangerous content. White CapCut censors most explicit works and phrases, users know who to get around this. Please talk about the very real dangers the app poses to our young people, and use some of the links on the month;s E-safety newsletter to become well informed.

Careers Newsletter

Don’t miss out on the host of webinars , virtual work experience, parent guides, open day information,  taster lectures and more found in this week’s Careers Newsletter . Download the free Padlet app for an easy to view format on your mobile phone if this is how you prefer to view it.

Year 10 Post 16 Options 1:1s

If your young person has had a recent 1:1 with Mrs Osborne please follow up with them by asking them how they are getting with the action plan they were given in the meeting. They will have a hard copy or an electronic version available under “Locker” and “Files” on their Morrisby account. Parents/carers are the number one influencers on a young person's decision about further and higher education choices so if you could please have a conversation with them over the summer and encourage them to carry out the guidance given to them it will help them prepare for the decisions approaching in the Autumn term and application to college, sixth form or Apprenticeships by the end of the calendar year.

Have a relaxing weekend.
