Dear families,

Please find information about messages sent this week, and some new opportunities for students and families.

Library Survey

We are incredibly fortunate to have one of the best used Suffolk Libraries based here at school. It is also available to the public throughout the week and weekend. You can order books online for your children to collect, as well as using the free Libby app to read books on a range of devices. Students also have access to the library before and after school, as well as lunchtimes and breaks.

To help the library develop further please complete this survey for children and families, https://suffolk.gov.uk/council-and-democracy/consultations-petitions-and-elections/consultations/shaping-the-future-of-library-services-2023

Year 9 Out to Work Day - Friday 15 March

Our nationally recognised Careers programme provides a wide range of experiences for our students.

Family contacts of students in Year 9 were recently sent a letter and guidelines sheet regarding the planned “Out to Work” day for Year 9 students on the March enrichment day. This is designed to give students an experience of the workplace. As stated in the letter if it is not possible to send a student to work with a family member or trusted friend that day please send them into school as normal as we will have an alternative school activity for them to take part in. Please ensure you complete the google form as soon as you know what your young person will be doing that day. Google Consent Form

Tickets can be booked online and the show dates are:

  • Mon 12 February, 7 pm
  • Tues 13 February, 7 pm
  • Weds 14 February, 4 pm
  • Thurs 15 February, 7 pm

Upcoming Events

Last week we had our Year 10 subject teacher evening. Subject teacher evenings for other year groups take place between 4 and 6:30 pm. You will be able to meet some teachers online or in person. Please keep these dates available:

  • Year 7 subject teacher evening: Tuesday 14 May, from 4pm
  • Year 8 subject teacher evening: Tuesday 16 April, from 4pm

We also have regular family forums where you can ask questions and hear information from leaders on relevant topics.

Our next Family Forum, for parents of students in Key Stage 3 is in the main assembly hall on Tuesday 23 January, at 6pm.

This will be for parents of all students in Key Stage 3 and will talk about how we support learning, answer any questions about our reporting systems, briefly explain our approach to student options which are taken in Year 9 and talk more about careers and the take your child to work day for Year 9 students. You are all welcome to attend and  students can also accompany you if you wish.

Our main Year 9 Option evening takes place on Thursday 29 February between 5 and 8 pm. This includes presentations from staff and students and the change to speak to teachers about the courses available.

And finally a reminder that you can find copies of letters sent on our website at www.tgschool.net/letters
