Thomas Gainsborough School Tour to America 8 to 16 April 2019

Following on from the success of the Easter 2015 & 2017 trips we are again excited to be proposing a once in a lifetime school tour to the USA including locations such as Los Angeles, Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon. This amazing cultural experience will take place during the Easter holidays in 2019.

We are planning to take 40 students from any year group in the school. The full schedule for the trip consists of:

Day 1 – Flight from London to LA. Overnight in LA.

Day 2 – Full day guided tour of LA area. Overnight LA.

Day 3 – Full day at Universal Studios. Overnight LA.

Day 4 – Travel from LA to Vegas by coach.

Overnight in Vegas with time to explore Vegas as a group this evening.

Day 5 – Travel from Vegas to visit the Grand Canyon by coach. Overnight is Tusayan, Arizona.

Day 6 – Full day River Float Excursion at the Colorado River Discovery Headquarters.

Overnight in Tusayan.

Day 7 – Travel from Tusayan to Tempe via some beautiful scenery. Overnight in Tempe

Day 8 – Shopping time in Phoenix before transfer to airport for return flight home overnight.

Day 9 – Arrive London

The cost of this trip will be £2150.

This cost includes:

  • Return flights
  • Accommodation
  • All activities and entrance fees
  • Breakfast and evening meals
  • Transport to and from the airport
  • Group travel insurance
  • NST 24hr emergency contact service whilst on tour

The tour is being booked through NST Travel, the UK's leading educational travel
company for schools with more than 45 years experience. They work closely with us during the whole tour planning process to ensure that your child will get the very best learning experience whilst away. Details about this company can be found at their website www.nstgroup.co.uk.

In addition to the tour cost students will also require a current valid passport with an expiry date of not before October 2019 and personal spending money.

We anticipate that this is going to be a popular tour and it could be oversubscribed. Should this be the case then priority will be given to older students with the intention that younger students will get another opportunity to go in 2021. As the trip is during the holiday time and not a direct part of our curriculum, the school reserves the right to refuse permission to take part to any student who’s record of behaviour suggests that they may be a risk to the well-being of other students and the smooth running of the trip.

To reserve a place for your son/daughter on this tour, a deposit of £250 is required along with the completed permission slip, by Monday 2nd October 2017. This deposit is non-refundable should your child secure a place and then withdraw. In the event of the tour being oversubscribed, then deposits will be returned. We will inform students on Friday 6th October and provide each one with a letter confirming their place on the tour.

Details of further payments will be circulated at a preliminary information meeting on Tuesday 10th October at 6.00pm in the Main Assembly Hall.
