Health & Safety

“It shall be the duty of every employer whilst at work to take responsible care for the health and safety of him/herself and of others who may be affected by his/her acts or omissions at work.”

Health and Safety Act (1974) Employers and students have specific responsibilities:

EMPLOYERS Need to give instruction covering health and safety, fire and accident procedures, chains of command etc, as well as designating a person responsible for your welfare.

STUDENTS Need to behave responsibly, dress appropriately, follow instructions and know the name of the designated person for advice and guidance.  On your first day you should have a Health and Safety Introduction.  This information should be written in your diary.

During enrichment day’s year 9 students find out about Health and Safety in preparation for Work Experience.

You will be given placement information before going on Work Experience.  This shows detail of risk/hazards and control measures identified by your employer during the Health and Safety Assessment.
